Ping Calculator: convert cm, m², and Taiwanese feet to ping

1 ping ≈ 3.3058 m²; 1 m² ≈ 0.3025 ping. Enter room length and width in cm to get ping directly. You can also convert between square meters, ping (坪), and Taiwanese feet, add up room sizes into net floor area, and estimate the area left after shared facilities. Everything runs in your browser. The room list stays on this device and is never uploaded.

Common ping conversions

  • 1 ping = 3.31 m²
  • 5 ping = 16.53 m²
  • 10 ping = 33.06 m²
  • 15 ping = 49.59 m²
  • 20 ping = 66.12 m²

  • 10 m² = 3.02 ping
  • 20 m² = 6.05 ping
  • 30 m² = 9.07 ping
  • 50 m² = 15.12 ping
  • 100 m² = 30.25 ping

How to use

  • Type a number in any field under "Unit converter". The other fields update instantly.
  • Add rooms to the room list. Enter length and width, or the area directly.
  • Read the net floor area total at the bottom of the list.
  • If you used the 3D layout tool, press "Import from 3D layout" to see the outline area. Then press "Add outline to list" if you need it.
  • To estimate the area after shared facilities, enter the title deed area and the shared-facility ratio.

Formulas and constants

  • 1 Taiwanese foot (台尺) = 10/33 m ≈ 30.303 cm.
  • 1 ping (坪) = 6 × 6 Taiwanese feet = 36 sq Taiwanese feet = 400/121 m² ≈ 3.305785 m².
  • m² ÷ 3.305785 = ping; ping × 3.305785 = m².
  • 1 ft² = 0.3048 m × 0.3048 m = 0.09290304 m².
  • Room area = length × width, after converting both to meters.
  • Area after shared facilities = title deed area × (1 − ratio).
  • The 3D layout outline area uses the shoelace formula. Take each pair of adjacent outline corners, cross-multiply their coordinates, and subtract. Sum all pairs and take half the absolute value.

Example 1: a 360 × 300 cm bedroom

3.6 m × 3.0 m = 10.8 m².

10.8 ÷ 3.305785 ≈ 3.27 ping.

Example 2: 30 ping on the deed, 32% shared facilities

30 × (1 − 0.32) = 20.4 ping after shared facilities.

Shared facilities = 30 × 0.32 = 9.6 ping.

20.4 ping ≈ 67.44 m². This still includes balconies and other ancillary areas.

Limitations

  • This tool only does math. It is not a survey or proof of ownership. The title deed and the official building survey plan prevail.
  • Measuring inside the walls gives net area. It is usually smaller than the main-building area on the deed. Deeds are commonly said to measure to wall centerlines. We have not checked the regulation text.
  • "Import from 3D layout" can only bring in the outline area for now. The 3D save stores room name positions, not room boundaries, so rooms are not split.
  • The outline area includes walls, hallways, and every room. It is not the net floor area. Image-based layouts also depend on the scale you set.
  • The shared-facility estimate is plain multiplication. This page gives no prices, loans, or policy calculations.

FAQ

How many square meters is one ping? One ping is about 3.305785 m². The exact value is 400/121 m², from 6 × 6 Taiwanese feet. One square meter is about 0.3025 ping.

How do I get ping from centimeters? Convert length and width to meters, multiply to get m², then divide by 3.305785. Example: 360 × 300 cm is 3.6 × 3.0 = 10.8 m², and 10.8 ÷ 3.305785 ≈ 3.27 ping. The length × width fields above do this for you.

How do I convert m² to ping? m² × 0.3025 = ping. Example: 66 m² × 0.3025 ≈ 19.97 ping. The other way: ping × 3.305785 = m².

What is a Taiwanese foot (台尺)? It is a length unit still used in Taiwanese renovation and carpentry. It is commonly traced to the Japanese shaku. One Taiwanese foot is 10/33 m, about 30.3 cm. One Taiwanese inch (台寸) is 1/10 of a foot, about 3.03 cm.

What is the difference between net area and deed area? Deed area usually includes the main building, ancillary areas such as balconies, and a share of common facilities. Net area is what you get by measuring each room inside the walls. It is usually smaller than the main-building area. Agents in Taiwan often say "actual ping" for deed area minus shared facilities. Usage varies, so ask what they mean.

How is the shared-facility ratio calculated? The common method is shared-facility area ÷ total deed area. Deed area × (1 − ratio) gives the area after shared facilities. The deed and survey plan prevail.

Should I measure to the wall center or the inside face? It depends on what you compare. For furniture, flooring, or paint, measure the inside face. Deed areas are commonly said to use wall centerlines. So each wall differs by about half its thickness. We have not checked the regulation text.

Sources

We found no page from the Ministry of the Interior or any land office that states how many square meters one ping is. The ping and Taiwanese foot values below are common conversions and derivations, not legal definitions. If you know an official source, please email us. We will add it and update the check date.

  • 1 Taiwanese foot = 10/33 m: common conversion. Supports all Taiwanese foot, cm, and m conversions.
  • 1 ping = 6 × 6 Taiwanese feet = 36 sq Taiwanese feet: common definition. Supports ping to sq Taiwanese feet.
  • 1 ping = (60/33)² = 400/121 ≈ 3.3058 m²: derived from the two lines above. Supports ping to m² and ft², and both worked examples.
  • 1 ft = 0.3048 m: the international definition of the foot. No official link on this page. Supports ft² conversions.
  • Shared-facility ratio = shared area ÷ total deed area; deeds measure to wall centerlines: common practice, regulation text not checked. Supports the ratio estimate and FAQ 4 and 5.
